Notice of Race

FALL SERIES

HOSTED BY TOMS RIVER YACHT CLUB

1 Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US SAILING, the rules of each class, and this Notice Of Race, except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions or any appendices to the Sailing Instructions.
1.2 The organizing authority is the Toms River Yacht Club, Toms River, NJ, USA.

2 Boats and Equipment
2.1 Boats will be supplied by the competitors.  If a competitor is sailing from week to week in the series, he or she may leave his or her boat at the Toms River Yacht Club.                                                                   2.2  Tech Dinghies will be available to race in the Sunday Series.  They will be provided by Toms River Yacht Club for a weekly fee of $15 for “Non-Owners” and $10 for all “Owners.”

3 Eligibility and Entry
3.1 All competitors who register with the Race Committee on site the morning of each weekend are eligible to sail.  Registration must be confirmed on site; those who sail over and fail to register will not be eligible to compete.  There will not be any early or pre-registration.

4 Risk
It is the competitor's decision to enter the regatta and to start or continue any race. The competitors are ultimately responsible for the risks. The competitor will accept full responsibility for all his/her actions during any activity related to the event. This includes on-shore activities before, during, and after the series.

5 Schedule of Events
5.1 The series will consist of five weekends, with racing taking place on:

Sunday, September 23rd

Sunday, September 30th

Sunday, October 14th

Sunday, October 21st

Sunday, October 28th

** There will be no fall series on October 7th as to not compete with the Opti ACCs at LEHYC and the 420 Mid-Atlantic Champs at BBYC.

5.2 Registration will start at 9:00 AM with a skipper’s meeting at 10:15 AM.  Sailors should be rigged and ready at the skipper’s meeting.  The first race will be at 11:00 AM. 

5.3 Six races are scheduled for each weekend. The number of races held each day will be at the discretion of the race committee.
5.4 No warning signal will be made after 15:30 on each weekend.

6 Fees
6.1 The entry fee is $10 for each weekend or $40 for the entire series if paid on the first weekend.            6.2 The entry fee includes racing each day, storage week-to-week at the TRYC, and awards.

7 Sailing Instructions
The sailing instructions will be available during on-site registration.

8 Courses & Racing Area
8.1 Courses will be windward-leewards, triangles, or combinations thereof and will be described in the sailing instructions.
8.2 The racing area will be on the Toms River and will be more specifically announced during the skipper’s meeting each week.

9 Scoring
9.1 Scoring will be as provided in RRS 90.3.
9.2 Six races are scheduled each week.
9.3 To determine weekly scores, a boat’s worst score will be discarded when 5 races are completed.
9.4 In addition to having “weekly” scores, there will be a series score.  Sailors will count their best 80% of all races completed to determine their series score.

10 Awards
10.1 Small awards, provided by Colie Sails, will be given at the conclusion of each week to boats placing first through third in each class.
10.2 Overall series awards will be awarded on the final weekend after racing.
