~Large Capacity Container (30+ gallon) with lid, such as a trash can or something that will not be easily accessible by children or pets. Be sure the container is clean of debris or rust.

~ Bleach 1 gallon bleach: 30 gallons water

~Soft Bristle Scrub Brush

~ All Purpose Cleanser We have found that mild, non-abrasive cleanser WITHOUT bleach such as Fantastik, Mean Green, and etc. work well.

~If your the cover wants to float, put weight on it

To remove any mildew growth and loosen dirt deposits from the surface of the cover, soak it in a solution of bleach water (1 gallon bleach : 30 gallons of water) in a large capacity container with a tight lid for 24-48 hours, depending on the degree of mildew accumulations; rotating every few hours to insure that all areas of the piece are being exposed to the bleach solution. For large pieces, soak one section at a time for maximum exposure. For best results, weight the piece down with jugs of water or the like (something that won¹t bleed on the fabric or degrade in bleach) in order to completely submerge the piece. NOTE: If your cover has any vinyl windows, DO NOT SUBMERGE THEM! Bleach will mar or cloud them permanently. You can, however, soak the areas around the window a little at a time. Contact MarChem Coated Fabrics for further verbal instructions regarding cleaning pieces with windows.

While wet, lay the piece across a clean, flat surface such as a picnic table or driveway and thoroughly scrub the entire surface with an all purpose cleanser. Spray off thoroughly with water several times.

Allow several hours to dry completely. If no refinishing is necessary, treat with AQUA-TITE Silicone Water Repellent.
