What is ISCA

The International Sunfish Class Association (ISCA) is the organization
that governs the one-design class of sailboats which includes Sunfish®
and the Zim-built ISCA boat. ISCA serves to maintain the one-design
standards for the class and ensure that an ISCA you buy in 2024 is just
as relevant as your vintage boat that has been lovingly cared for!
Sunfish® is a registered trademark of VELUM LTD.

Where will the ISCA be built?

At Zim Sailing’s 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Bristol, Rhode Island, where they produce 420Es, FJs, and ILCAs.

Will my old boat still be class - legal for racing?

YES! Per ISCA class rule 2.5, all boats made after 1/1/90 shall have a
World Sailing plaque. Any boat produced without a plaque after that date
is not a class- legal boat.

Proven Hull Construction

The Zim ISCA is thoughtfully designed and produced to improve upon durability and construction quality while keeping the boat at the same weight and performance characteristics; a true one-design, through-and-through. The foam blocks that originally provided buoyancy have been upgraded and replaced with closed-cell foam technology and superior bonding adhesive that will not absorb water, while providing stiffness to construction. As the Official Supplier of High School and College Sailing and the only North American ILCA builder, our knowledge of building durable institutional boats translates directly to building the ISCA, serving the racing and recreational markets equally well.

Premium Equipment

Working with the top suppliers in the industry, the Zim ISCA is outfitted with hardware and rigging that will be dependable for years to come. We worked with the International Sunfish Class Association to introduce class-legal Harken Carbo blocks on the boom for the first time, and a linked traveler block to improve the 2:1 system’s longevity without altering performance characteristics. Kingfisher Ropes has developed Club and Race line packages to bring everything together. All parts are backwards-compatible with boats from previous class manufacturers.
